• Magnificently situated accommodation in the beautiful Buttermere valley

Wood House is a fine Lakeland home set within its own grounds that overlook breathtaking scenery. The house is a National Trust property that offers en suite guest rooms with lake views, a charming drawing room and elegant dining room.

We provide bed and breakfast, packed lunches and evening meals, with excellent home cooking made from locally sourced ingredients.

Wood House Cottage is a separate building within the grounds, available for self-catering use.

The property enjoys its own private access to Crummock Water lake. Many regard Buttermere as the most beautiful of Lake District locations. The area provides inspiration for photographers and artists, and Wood House appears in a Turner painting of Buttermere in 1798.

There is a wealth of activities on the doorstep including spectacular walks ranging from easy to challenging, canoeing, sailing and rowing on the lake, the thrilling via ferrata at Honister, world class mountain biking at Whinlatter, scrambling, rock climbing and canyoning.

Wood House is also able to offer use of its grounds for weddings. Please contact us to enquire.
